Our Discovery to Impact team is the front door to corporate partners looking to engage with UT, from development of new biologic therapies, to licensing of available intellectual property. There are many ways to engage with our expert faculty and staff to bring value to your organization.
Sponsored Research
Each year, UT executes over 1,000 agreements for sponsored research projects with companies and university faculty. Our Licensing and Collaborative Research unit assists your company in the contractual process, including execution of NDAs, MTAs and Sponsored Research Agreements (SRAs). Under an SRA, a statement of work, budget, milestones, IP terms and publication rights are all defined.
Technology Transfer
In the past 10 years, UT faculty and staff have produced more than 1,745 invention disclosures, resulting in more than 1,240 issued U.S. and international patents and 705 option and license agreements. Our Business Development and Intellectual Property Development unit works with companies to identify valuable technologies, secure intellectual property and partner with industry in many different ways to help bring these technologies to the market. If your company would like to further develop or test a UT technology prior to license, you can also enter into an Evaluation License Agreement (ELA) or Option Agreement to enable validation. An ELA provides access and rights to UT IP which allow companies to test a technology and validate performance prior to committing to a license agreement.
